Long time Southend BNI members, Lollipop Local, were proud to receive their Southend Business & Community Charter Bronze award from the Mayor, Councillor Faye Evans, recently.
The awards are a two-stage process administered by the Organisation for Responsible Business (ORB) and supported by Southend Borough Council.
Jon Law, one of the directors who received the award, said:
The Award is very different to many of the gimme Awards out there. There are strict criteria to achieve and comply with. Initially, it can seem like a bit of a chore but the process makes your business better. Besides, supporting local students and charities is never a bad thing!
Doing the right thing, not the easy thing is one of our core values, so the ORB and Southend Business & Community Charter ethos resonates with us! And this recognition helps to show the world what kind of a business we are!
The Charter supports the vision of robust and efficient businesses and a thriving local community – something that Southend BNI also enthusiastically supports with its weekly business breakfast meetings and regular visitors days.
The Southend Charter Committee confirmed the Bronze Award for Lollipop on the 1st of November 2017:
An excellent first time application and a very worthy Bronze Award. This small digital marketing company based in Leigh-on-Sea has a strong focus on supporting young people, offering work experience and apprenticeship opportunities.Lollipop Local also support a local charity by providing first class services at a nominal rate.
Achieving the Southend Business & Community Charter awards
The application process involves completing the comprehensive Responsible Business Workbook. It includes sections covering:
- The Workplace
- Ethics and Transparency
- Business Processes
Aside from the awards themselves, the Southend Business & Community Charter Bronze award process is an excellent way for small businesses to become more organised. With further grades to work towards, unsurprisingly Silver and Gold, the journey needn’t end at Bronze! Lollipop are already working towards these.
